2010 WSF Events List of WSF actions and events for 2010

Know how the WSF is going to be like during 2010 During the year when it celebrates the 10th anniversary of its process, the World Social Forum will not have a single global centralized event. In 2010, the WSF will happen in a permanent way all year-round, with events and activities being held throughout the world. It will be a year in which the attentions of the WSF process will be drawn towards the global crisis, understood in all its aspects – economic, environmental, political, social, cultural, food, civilizatory. The WSF in 2010 aims at accumulating the analyzes, proposals and experiences of the social organizations and movements to face the multiple crises. The convergence space of this accumulation process will be the 2011 Dakar World Social Forum, the next centralized event of the process. After the last IC meeting, held in October, in Montreal, the IC Liaison Group has released the Proposals to connect the 2010 events document. http://www.forumsocialmundial.org.br/noticias_01.php?cd_news=2649&cd_language=2 Among the presented proposals are the creation of a banner that will travel around the world accumulating messages and slogans of every event, the use of a common logo, the production of messages (written, visual, audiovisual, artistic) that express responses to the crises, among others. In its 1st call to the organizers of the 2010 WSF events, the WSF International Council states that “it is crucial for the WSF to collectively develop a process of working in 2010 that it is in synchrony with the rhythm of development of the effects of this crisis and the diverse emerging responses by movements across the globe.”

Cette réunion devra permettre d’engager des discussions sur le contexte mondial et le contenu du Forum ainsi que sur le format et les modalités d’organisation

Another Europe is Possible! The European Social Forum is coming to Malmö, Sweden!

The European Social Forum is coming to Malmö, Sweden! From September 17th to 21st 2008 the European Social Forum (ESF) is being held in Malmö, in the south of Sweden. The forum is by far the biggest meetingplace for social movements and a progressive civil society in Europe - with the aim to create a better Europe and a better world. More than 20 000 people are expected to participate in Malmö. During five days over 200 seminars and workshops will be mixed with even more culture, film, music, informal meetings, activism and demonstrations.

World Social Forum Call for 
1-minute video of Another possible world
 in preparation for the Global action on January 26th, 2008 Participate in constructing a great collective audiovisual story, sharing a 1 minute video to say that: "An other World is Possible" and necessary! The 26th of January 2008 will be an occasion to demonstate in many different ways, colors, mobilitations, artistic performaces, direct actions, meetings, where we who recognize ourselves in the Charter of principles of the World Social Forum will make our voices heard. The Day of Global Action called by the World Social Forum will be the apex of a week of mobilization across the planet. Since Seattle in '99, in Porto Alegre, Genoa, Cancun, Mumbai, Nairobi, and many other places on Earth, we learn of other narratives of what we want to be possible, and that the right to communication is also a right of liberty. For January 26, 2008, we launch this call to at the artists, musicians, film makers and video producers, media activists and telestreets, professionals from webTV, communication and information and all persons that would like to participate on this day of world media action. Help to make a large collective audiovisual history of the Global week of Mobilization and Action of January 2008, producing and sharing short videos, of up to one minute, and for free reproduction to say that Another World is Possible? This audiovisual mobilization is to have its first major showing on the Day of Global Action. In January this showing will be the entry door to a gigantic virtual public plaza. Use tools of the site and open or free spaces that the internet offers to publish or search for videos produced for the global journal that are also able to be recorded and taken to places and people who do not have access to the net. January 26, 2008 will be the construction of a worldwide network -- an informative one that for a day shall be on the center of the stage. Let's try to inter-communicate from al parts of the Earth and affirm that "Another world is possible"!
